KIDS COOKING CAMP FOR 2012
“MOM I WANT TO BE A CHEF!”—Make summer a fun way for your kids to focus on delicious healthful eating and fending for themselves in the kitchen. Our experienced chef and staff provide hands-on kids cooking class sessions while learning recipes to try at home. Kids gain confidence using kitchen tools and gadgets while learning valuable food handling and measuring skills. Each day children will make a complete meal for their lunch. The menus and skills learned are designed to appeal to the abilities of most children. Age groups are imposed based on the safety level of each age group and the teacher’s ability to create teamwork in the kitchen. Located inside the Neptunian Women’s Club. Cost includes apron, notebook with recipes and handouts to take home, all food, utensils, and lunch.

“South Bay School of Cooking's Kids Cooking Camp teaches valuable life skills and nutrition, all under the guise of making some good grub”.
Excerpt: “....the kids prepare their own meal, which they eat at the end of class. Multiplying or dividing recipes hones their math skills. Understanding what the role of yeast is in the rising of bread or why salting raw vegetables dries them out for crisper cooking gives them a dash of science. The collective preparation of a meal shared family-style teaches them to work together and take turns. The focus of the class on veggies, produce, fruit and lean meats coaches them in nutrition.” Read full article here or, you can download it.

“I just wanted to write a note of thanks as you all have given my son an opportunity to do something that he loves during the summer! As I heard of parents dragging their kids to summer activities that they didn’t even want to go to, he was happy and excited to attend South Bay School of Cooking everyday. What a great team of professional people who have personality plus!” - - Misty S.
